I look at the world
From awakening eyes in a black face—
And this is what I see:
This fenced-off narrow space
Assigned to me.
I look then at the silly walls
Through dark eyes in a dark face—
And this is what I know:
That all these walls oppression builds
Will have to go!
I look at my own body
With eyes no longer blind—
And I see that my own hands can make
The world that’s in my mind.
Then let us hurry, comrades,
The road to find.
-Langston Hughes
HAPPY NEW YEAR from NinaAlvarez.net. May 2009 be the year we each find our road.
It is a very nice poem! I love the simple poetry language and good meterphor use, very enjoy it!
You look at the world
I look at your poem
The world is too large
Your poem is too close
So now you hurry to find a road
I flow on the flying-carpet of hope!
yes, very good poem, simple and full.
and yes, those walls will have to go, only one problem is, they are not really here. ho wto remove something with don’t really exist?
